Exclusive: Inside the factory that makes the Army's rifle rounds

Just about every round fired from a British Army rifle comes from a BAE Systems factory in Cheshire, which makes around one million every day.

The company has a £2.4bn contract with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to provide all its munitions for the next 13 years.

It also supplies much of NATO, and the cartridges are delivered as far away as India and Australia.

Forces News’ Hannah King was given a tour.

Too bad that we are not allowed to have guns like most of the modern world does. Everything is made hard in England through non english politicians forcing laws through for the better of other nations. Atleast the invading enemy knows it can get bullets when it takes over civy population.

If you work at one of these weapon factory’s now’s a good time to go on strike and demand $400 dollars a hour. Actually while you’re at it just demand that you get paid in solid gold and silver.

  18. Got to Love it on March 21, 2023 at 2:55 am

This is a bad idea these modern governments have to put all the stuff for making essential equipment under one roof instead of spread over the country. Its just asking for major problems if something major kicks off and that one factory is took out.

I wish they would sell in the UK for different calibres, for licence holders, instead of us paying for expensive foreign ammo.

Finally someone who doesn´t call it "a bullet" or "bullets" ..
Now the sad thing is, of course, that if it never ended life, it would not have to save lives, neither … think about that.

  23. Kyle Lin on March 21, 2023 at 2:59 am

When they said “they end lives and they save lives” I thought they were talking about abortion

  25. Bill Bright on March 21, 2023 at 2:59 am

The .308 Winchester is a very viable and efficient chambering. Able to rival the 30/06 Springfield with 150 grain projectiles. In a short action platform.

  26. serafina costa on March 21, 2023 at 3:02 am

Worked in a factory that did these rounds , back in the 80’s. Presses were way more obsolete ,imports from WWII. These are a progressive deep drawn presses. Maybe Waterbury ones. The dies made in this company’s took room. The reject grooves in the shells , and the end flange , I am surprised thry are still being machined.

  35. Nicholas merritt on March 21, 2023 at 3:19 am

Waste of taxpayer dollars. The constitution is pretty adverse to having a standing army, it was supposed to mean the people, not the government, Which is the Army, and the like. Can’t afford to help it’s citizens are in need, especially if white, but it can sure pump out millions of rounds, on the taxpayers dime of course.

  36. James on March 21, 2023 at 3:20 am

This is nothing compared to what we put out in the States .

  37. Riley Mannion on March 21, 2023 at 3:20 am

Good job telling the enemies exactly where all your ammo is made

  38. 10yoss on March 21, 2023 at 3:20 am

The biggest issue is stated right at the beginning of the video: "Every round fired from a British army rifle comes from this factory".

  39. LB on March 21, 2023 at 3:21 am

Man British people get on my nerves for some reason, can’t even watch.

  40. Ben Phillips on March 21, 2023 at 3:22 am

in defence hahahha that must make them feel better about what they do.. sure alot of those end up in spurious places

  41. Juan on March 21, 2023 at 3:22 am

They are producing M193? Gross. Lol

  44. Kjeld Schouten-Lebbing on March 21, 2023 at 3:27 am

Awesome, 60% of their stocks are in a single storage facility and most of the rounds made in a single plant…
Maybe we should invade the UK, all it takes is a handfull of bombs and they can start fighting with wooden swords.

  45. Chris on March 21, 2023 at 3:28 am

    Mad fallout vibes

  46. Sam B Fath on March 21, 2023 at 3:29 am

  47. New Bleppmore on March 21, 2023 at 3:30 am

why are they making so much ammo if the Uk hasn’t been under threat for 80 years? you can’t ethically ban your citizens from owning weapons while sending ammo and weapons to the rest of the world?

  48. John Scone on March 21, 2023 at 3:34 am

Need to ramp up to 365 days a year production. This is what the new budget funding should be going on.

The guy doing the on screen visuals must have had an extra cup of coffee that day. Never have I seen small bits of metal getting cleaned turn into an action movie.
