The blade’s black coating looks rough, the sheath instead looks great.

The Eickhorn KM3000 or KM4000 is even better. Greetings from Germany

Do you know why the eickhorn km series always have the blade facing towards you when you pull it from the sheath? I realized it’s hard to put it in the sheath the other way around (the logo facing downward)

Eickhorn is a really great company. I own a Forester III, which is more or less an "upgraded" version of this knife with a sawback. It does absolutely everything that outdoor work or camping would require, is extremely comfortable, and the steel retains an edge for a very long time. They are definitely much more expensive than other knives, especially a Glock knive, but it will be the one knife you ever have to buy- so depends on your philosophy. If you want the cheapest possible fixed blade knife and don’t really care if you break it because it was only $30, get the Glock knife. If you want a knife you will only have to buy once and will never break, get the Eickhorn. In the end, you’ll spend about equal on both, so I think both are viable choices.

    Nice review. Keep them coming.

If you want a real sturdy knife, get the Eickhorn KM4000. It has the same grip, but it is full tang! The sheath is the same, with the wirecutters. And they cut really, really well. It’s a bit more; I’ve paid about 190 Euros for it, but it is definitely worth it!
    Nice review, thankyou!

I´ve heard that it really hurts your hands, when you try to chop off some small branches. I haven´t enough experience with blades to tell why some knives, daggers and even swords hurt when cutting hard targets, whereas others feel much better, however, I can tell that this can make a huge difference if you need to work for a while.
As a side-note: this knife, but also the Glock knife to a lesser degree can be pretty awkward for some tasks a mora, or small kitchen knife would do with ease. The reason is the crossguard.

I didn`t like the KM 2000. I like the SEK III though and could carry it as EDC if i wouldn`t risk losing it to the law here. They should have made a better thought out sheath though (molle + velcro). I have it for quite a few years now.

Love this knife as well as the Eickhorn KM-4000. My question is what is the best stone to sharpen this knife with?

I wonder all the time that nobody international take care of Eickhorn knifes. The KM 2000 and special KM 3000 is supreme for field work.
