Pros of the "F" series:
Safety is a decocker now
Barrels are now chromed
Cons:
They switched to the modern Beretta finish and got rid of the bluing
The trigger guard isn’t curved anymore.

Something not mentioned here is that after using the decocker, the hammer actually falls into the half cocked position. And ACTUALLY…. To later decock it completely you have 2 options: either lightly tugging at the hammer only and then following it down. OR… probably the most ill-advised is lightly pulling the trigger only, and then letting out.

Some trivia about these guns. There are different national and regional police corps in Italy, everyone of them can select his own sidearm. These Beretta 84s were issued to the Italian Guardia di Finanza (the armed corp of the Ministry of Finance – think about an italian merge between I.R.S., Border police and DEA – 63.841 officers in 2019) and to some regional police corps (every city and town in Italy has Local police, they are used as local traffic police and for notification and bureaucratic acts). I own one of these, bought from surplus of a local police force in perfect mechanical condition and good cosmetic. 220 $ with 2 magazines. Usually the surplus is a bargain: they are very well made and they are seldom used (3 to 6 training session per year at the range for each officer – 25 to 50 shots fired each session, depending on the police force specs). Mine has a mirror (chromed) bore and shots accurately. These will withstand thousands of rounds and make an excellent and fairly powerful option for EDC.

What many do not realize is that it can easily be converted to a model 81. A barrel swap and 7,65mm magazine is required. All other parts are the same minus the roll marks.
