Rossi Model 88 38 Special Revolver Review
Rossi Model 88 38 Special Revolver Review
The Rossi Model 88 was produced from 1986 until the mid ’90’s and is a fine quality Double Action revolver. It was offered in a 2″ and 3″ version and the Model 68 was a Blued Model. This was the first handgun that I purchased. Picked this one up on Gun Broker. #Rossimodel88 #RossiRevolver #Rossi

Um clássico e tanto👍🏻
38 Special had a lot of merit long ago for police carry
They are decent guns ,the older ones I have shot.
I bought this exact firearm exactly one week before Let’s Go Brandon began to ruin the country. Mine is a 2 inch snub nose at a cost of $300 plus tax at my local Gun Shop. I was happy with my purchase!
Rossi, Taurus, and Charter Arms along with RIA make wonderful revolvers for the most part, especially for the money.
I had one iin 88 great gun
My Taurus 85 looks a whole lot like it. Maybe not the same quality but I’ve fired hundreds of rounds through it without a hiccup.
Reminds me of the day we scared some cows (not on purpose) plinking in a pasture behind Grandpa’s house in Laurens SC. Great memories bro!
Very informative and well said
I live in São Leopoldo, right next to the Rossi factory.
Back in 2003, a socialist was elected president in Brazil and the gun factories almost went bankrupt. Rossi was one of them and the factory closed. Taurus (also located here) bought the factory and all the patents. Rossi is now an airsoft importer in the old factory.
I once has a S&W model 66 357 in Victoria Australia in the early ‘80s. It had a K frame and I should have got the N frame. Mine had the 6” barrel and the larger wooden grips, I considered getting the smaller rubbery grips.
I wished I had the sticker in pre-computer days that says “This Car Protected by Smith and Wesson”.
In the day, there was a rumor that stainless steel was not the best material for a revolver and can develop tiny cracks. But I had no problems.
Rossi make a good revolver, that’s all I know.
Eu possuo o mesmo revolver da Rossi porém em calibre 32S&W long. Uma precisão incrível. Tenho vídeo dele em meu canal. Like fron brasil
Nothing better than a 3in 38 revolver…
Thats a nice looking gun
The whole "pad of the finger" thing goes back to single action guns with a trigger pull of 2 1/2 to 4 pounds. Forget that in double action. Love you man!!!
Paid $500 for a mint condition S&W Model 10 from the early 70’s at a gun show, along with a handmade leather holster. It’s hiding in my safe next to my mint 4 inch Model 19 from the same era 🇺🇸
The gold Rossi logo on those wood grips is surprisingly tasteful.
I need one to go with my pre-safety 92!
Verygood
Please don’t buy Rossi. They had a lawsuit a few years ago and recalled a bunch of revolvers. Taurus have had my revolver for over a year and a half since they own Rossi. They offered me a 5 shot 357. I refused because I had purchased a 6 shot 357. They said they would send me a model 65 I think. But have heard anything in over a year They Won’t return my calls and haven’t been able to get any response through email Which blows my mind because the case was already settled and they must refund or replace the revolver with another one and 50$ rebate.
Guess I got to get a lawyer to figure out what i need to do
Lovely piece of kit be even better in Blu Steel though. 👺🎃💰🎃💉🎃💰🎃👺
Looks like sw model 10
My 3" M88 has the front ramp but the rear sight has 2 itty bitty screws and a little metal plate with a notch and can be adjusted for windage.
Great content but you say the same things over and over and over … In reality this video could 4 minutes verses 20 minutes
I picked up from a pawn shop the 2” version for about $260, last year. It has the original Rossi rubber grips. I got the wood grips from fleabay. Man, its a beautiful thing.
( -_・) ︻╦̵̵͇̿̿̿̿══╤─ ▸▸▸▸▸ Bravo Zulu! 🤛🏼(▨_▨¬)🤜🏼 feelin⛽⛽ that Al Gore Rhythm..
I saw this video & thought my time machine was actually functional; not so. Then I remember that on line videos didn’t exist in 1992.
Great gun my grandfather had one when I was a kid, he’d make wax .38 reloads for it and I’d target practice in the alley way behind his house in the North End of Kansas City, today I got a model 15 Combat masterpiece that I carry when I’m not carrying a glock 19, I love the .38 special especially the FBI load.
I have that same gun with the 2" barrel… Even has a pinned barrel like smith and Wesson….. I also have the charter arms undercover 38 special it is the true Saturday night special.
An 18 min review of a Brazilian made revolver? You lost me on this one brother.
Ótima arma, uma pena não serem mais produzidos aqui no Brasil, a Rossi foi comprada pela Taurus.
Have the exact revolver with 2” barrel. These pistols are wonderful to shoot. I to purchased mine when I was in my 20’s and almost sold mine but fortunately l changed my mind! Love it more more the older I get.
I have a stainless steel Rossi in .22lr. It compares very well to my old S&W Model 34 kit gun, although the trigger is not quite as smooth.
I love the little Rossi. Our kids learned to shoot with it.
Guns was cheap back then ,cheap as in cost not quality. ⚔️💰⚔️💰⚔️
Love those Rossi revolvers. My mom had one just like it, only blued. Always a crack shot, she could knock the nuts off a gnat at 90 yards while in mid-flight with that old Rossi.
Have the upgraded Rossi in stnls. 3" barrel full shroud 6 shot cylinder with adjustable sights for 40 years plus. 250.00 handgun back in the day! Shot so well couldn’t part with it. It’s not a bicentennial Colt Python in royal blue like I bought on my 21st. B-day, but what is! Some guns ya just can’t part with. The Rossi has served me well for years in the woods, and marine climates I wouldn’t take the Python into. Great lil gun! Had Pachmayr grips on mine for a short time, until I figured out the speedloaders gripped the rubber whereas the wood grips would not. Been back in the original grips ever since. Enjoy that Rossi, and the fond memories it brings to mind. Why I find it so hard to part with some guns with so many memories attached. Good video, ever in my neck of the Tennessee woods stop by, to use the backyard range, and shootthe shit up. LOL
The guy in the gun shop was giving good advice, friends don’t let friends buy Brazilian revolvers in a world where Ruger and S&W revolvers exist. Guns are products where you definitely get what you pay for.
Looks a lot like our Rossi model 68. Ours has the black trigger, walnut grips, windage adjustable rear sights. Ours was a hand down from my mother in law who did not want it. It belonged to her mother.
I’ll contact you soon
This is one of those below-the-radar classics. Love it when you take a look at guns like this. Thanks!
Does rossi make a .44 version?
Taurus bought Rossi only to guarantee their monopoly on the gun manufacturing here in Brazil. Shortly after the acquisition they killed the Rossi Revolver line here. Taurus is a monopolistic anti-freedom company and I hope we can get rid of their government backed market manipulator hands soon.
This gun makes for a great snake killer with number 12 shot.
Old, good and beautiful revolver.
I have a M851 which is a 6 shot with a 4" barrel. Rossi designed it to look like a mini Python! I bought it for a song 10-12 years ago and was shocked at how well it shot. Even though it chambers 6, it is much smaller than a K-frame S&W. I believe it’s about the same vintage as yours. BTW, you need to tighten the screw on your side plate — it’s working itself out. Good video!!!
Taurus is the parent company of rossi. I own a .38 rossi and it is a good gun.
Have a 3" Rossi 88 .38 special made around 1994 according to material in the box. No pinned barrel like yours, but has full ejector rod shroud under barrel.
A really fine shooter, wood combat grips from a 2′ S&W model 60 fit it. Jokingly I tell my friends when those grips are on it that it’s a Smith & Rossi .38!
I just picked up one today at auction for $110. Missing the cylinder release button though. I was able to open the cylinder release with my thumbnail, everything else is smooth. Hope I can pick up thumb release for cheap.
I got of those. I’ve had mine since 93
