Great review. I just picked mine up today and can’t wait to shoot it.
A great kiss shotgun, keep it simple stupid π» excellent video of intelligence πΊπΈ
Sold my g26 to get one of these and some ammo for different calibers been needing to step up my shotgun game
Not sure why you didn’t get the combat version with the extended magazine tube. You missed out…
And my dumb @$$ will be at the gun smith with earplugs in so I donβt hear him laughing at me. Gotta really practice.
I bought a Mossberg 88 last year for home defense after the bad guys came through our neighborhood rattling door knobs. I have the longer barrel and I might just buy the short one for ease of handling. The guy at the gun store didn’t hesitate to recommend this shotgun. I paid less than $300 out the door and it is really great quality. Where I live, with all of the home invasions, I’ll use the full-size shells.
That Bad Puppy has been keeping Us working class folks homes well defended for almost 40 years!
πI own two. I have several shotguns also. Never had any issues with Mossberg. Bought the Shockwave which is a 590, you definitely need to spend time with it. The Maveric is made in Maverick Texas USA. You can swap out any 500 barrels. Made one 88 a slug one with rifled barrel, works for me. Liked the video.β
Nice shooting πππ i like Mossberg πππ
This dude is the last true American
219 bucks? That’s a steal. Nice sturdy firearm you got there.
quick question, does the maverick 88 come with time reversing spells or does that come from a certain shell type? or maybe you are some kind of chronomage or time wizard?
Great video, picking mine up in a few days. They’re roundabout $250 now which is a bummer but it is what it is.
Bought mine in Houston for 169.00 at Academy, still unfired, but it’s really well made and rugged, fine gun for the price
The maverick is the best value on the market. That review was very informative. Thank you my friend !!
I have an 18.5β Mossy 590 with a 4.25β tube extension, it holds 7+1 standard sized shells.
Brother, when you said "all that jazz" you shot me back to the 70-80s. I haven’t heard that phrase in a long time.
I’m so glad Boomhauer finally found his calling. π Dang ol’ whoop mayne!
Awesome video dude! I just got my first combat shotgun, a 18.5" 590A1 with the bead front sight, so I’m looking for good Mossberg shotgun videos. Glad I found this one. I’m subscribed!
Genuinely helpful video. Thanks!
I have a 7+1 with a 28 inch barrel
thank you for this video. I just bought one yesterday for $240 (it was $50 off). But I have to wait 10 days since I’m from California haha. I’m excited to take it out to the range and hopefully take it out to the desert one day
This was fun to watch, I currently have this shotgun in my cart ready to purchase
Just received mine and you are right about it being oily lol ! Broke it down and swabbed it out and itβs a sweet little pump ! Rigged with a flashlight it will do the job for me!
Yeah, you need the OPSOL adapter. Critical Defense has a different version that is permanently installed and allows you to load mini shells or 2ΒΎ" without removing it.
Thanks for a fun videoππππ
Appreciate the video this is my first firearm I purchased and it really helped me become familiar with it
And it’s on the list, and is even listed in the list as one of the exempted and acceptible weapons of which people can still own and use in the latest "2022 Assault Weapons Ban" bills being put through the House in 2023 by the Anti-Gun/More Gun Control activists and politicians. I’ve had mine for over 5 years and it still functions just fine and I bought it used from a pawn shop. It has the full length 28 inch barrel on it, where as the Security model has a shorter length barrel on it.
The one of the things I’m not happy with is the fact that I have shorter arms and it is uncomfortable to reach the pump action in a fast mode quick action during a self-defense mode without removing it from my shoulder and wish it had a slightly shorter butt stock on it. But unfortunately I have to deal with it as the butt stock is a hollow core plastic (composite), stock and probably can’t be cut off to a shorter length to accomodate my shorter arms and shorter reach of which a wooden butt stock could be done.
Another thing I sort of don’t like about it is that you have to keep it tilted about 90 degrees to the left during a rechamber and do a quick, fast, pump action with the pump action to chamber the next round, otherwise, the next round being chambered from the magazine will either fall out of the bottom, or fall out of the ejector port.
But still, I’m happy with it over-all, and it has won me a few thanksgiving turkeys at different turkey shoot contests since I’ve owned it.
I never bought it for self-defense purposes. I just simply bought it for going bird (pheasant), hunting with, and it did have good reviews on different YouTube videos.
In fact, I didn’t even know it would accept 3 inch shells until a friend of mine tried to give me a box of 3 inch shells and I turned them down. Then I looked on the barrel after I got back home, and it said it would take both 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells. By then he had given that box of 3 inch shells to another friend.
When I bought it from the pawn shop it did not have an owners manual with it because it was just sitting in a rack of used guns, and I never bothered to look at the barrel and read the printing on the barrel afterward (even during all the cleaning I did on it after firing it), that is until the subject came up about being given a box of 3 inch shells. Oh well, my loss, and I’m not complaining, but I did learn somthing new about my used shotgun, and thats all that matters and counts. Live and learn. And you just taught me something else new pertaining to the short mini-shells. Thanks for your own great review.
0:44 "Got your NRA propaganda" lol
9 plus 1
I love the sound of a pump racking!
So far after many hours of research on this gun the worst thing I have found is that it is NEVER available anywhere! I want one!
When you said "Wipe it down" I was like "NO!! leave the oil on it!!!" LOL because as you for sure know by now on these Maverick 88s – they rust up like a mug if you don’t keep oil on all the metal surfaces. I’m in Texas so maybe it has to do with your environment but none of my other guns will get any rust on them as quick as the 88. Must be some cheaper bluing on the 88 I guess. But aside of that it’s a damn good shotgun. No regrets buying it and would hang my life on it if need be.
Iβm sure those mini shells are fun on the range, but I wouldnβt trust my life on them. Give me some 2 3/4β 00 buck for home defense any day.
great shotgun, got mine 3 years ago, love it
I have a Maverick88 I picked up for $190.00 at Academy Sports a few years back (They’ve since gone up in $$ along with everything else). Haven’t tried the "mini" shells, yet, but I have the Opsol adapter just in case. I’ve heard that the adapter is there to limit travel when the slide is racked to load the next round so as not to try to "double feed" the mini shells. Not sure if that’s the case or not, but it sounded good to me!! π€£π€£
I am new to shotgun. Why is it the Mossberg or Maverick 88 have no coil spring of any sort upon field stripping? I have seen remington 870 has a spring system. Is it just the way itβs designed?
First time gun owner here, just bought this gun. Do you recommend disassembling completely and cleaning before use? Or were you just demonstrating how to do it in the beginning of this video?
I never see anyone oil their guns right out the box I must be the only one π I mean brand new out the box I still oil every component
I’m a noob and just ordered mine. I am working on finding a local range/club so I can learn the ropes. Just wanted to say thank you for the awesome and clear video. I’m subbing because excellent material.
Do you have to dissemble every new shotgun in the beginning? Or were you just showing us how itβs done? Never owned a shotty before and Iβm looking to grab this one.
Got one. Keep it…

Hey bro, can you put a adapter inside a cylinder pump sleeve like a 22 long or 380 ACP adapters? Can you give me a video a video on that thank you notes possible I know they do have it on the shotgun single shot adapters but I was wonder if it would do the same thing with the pump thank you kindly
I put an ATI tactical stock and a 20" ribbed barrel on mine. I also took the magazine plug out and added a flashlight with a remote switch. It shoots very well. I patterned it and it likes the 3" #1 buck the best.
I could listen to him talk all day!
I just about Mount one of those Maverick 88’s about a year ago. I can’t remember why I didn’t. If it’s like everything else of might have been low on funds. Great video!
Love them boom booms. Nice to see you running those minis.
Thanks brother. Just bought the 88. Hitting on the links up here in Boston! Be safe.
Would love to see a jelly test on mini buck and slugs. This channel is an asset to the 2a community. Iβm going to use your Amazon link now
Good video I got one in a 20g. Great shotgun when I’m feeling better ill do a review on mine too
Dang it I’ve had mine 20 years and I never could break it down to clean but now I know.
