This is the type of gun chamerd in this round in fully auto that killed all those people in Las Vegas?

  2. Matthew Fant on July 5, 2023 at 5:12 am

So, this is the non 5r rifled version? Pass. That’s what makes the other version downright awesome.

  3. Caleb Clark on July 5, 2023 at 5:13 am

Thinking of getting one. Is the bcg proprietary ?

  4. Caleb Clark on July 5, 2023 at 5:13 am

Sweet gun for the price. 2 grand cheaper than a DD 5V1. 2 grand !!!

  5. Fumasterchu on July 5, 2023 at 5:17 am

Looks pretty nice, but still close to $1k. I will wait and see what you guys think of it.

4:30 on that part where we’re supposed to pull that thing with both our fingers is it normal that it doesn’t sling back in like with mine I have to pull it out and push it back in??

I recently purchase one about 3 months ago and with the stock trigger and installed a NightForce NXS 2.5 x 10 scope, and when using Hornady 168 grain A-Match product # 8096, from a shooting sled, I can consistently get .75 MOA groups. I’m not an expert shooter.

My issues with the M&P10 were several:

    1) Smith & Wesson shipped the gun dirty which pissed me off, and yes, they did confirm that they test fire the gun and then package it up without cleaning it. Several other owners on the M&P10 forum confirmed this.

    2) After 100 rounds, the forward assist broke off and hit me in the face; lucky for me I was wearing glasses. As it turns out, I was told by another M&P10 owner that if you fire the gun with no magazine, the forward assist WILL break. I find this absurd because an AR shouldn’t do this. I don’t have this problem with my AR-15. From my initial examination, it looked like the spring wasn’t large or strong enough to keep the bolt release from dragging on the bolt.

MY SOLUTION: I just removed the forward assist and inserted a plastic plug which fits tight. No, I don’t really need a forward assist on any AR because if my gun is so dirty that the cartridge will not feed, then I will eject the round and quickly clean out the chamber with a thin rag, or switch to my pistol or backup AR-15. In my 35 years in the military, even in the deserts of Iraq, I have never known of anyone having to use the forward assist. If you must have a forward assist you could send the gun in for warranty work.

    3) The bolt release on the right side was extremely wobbly with sloppy tolerances. There is no easy fix for this as the space between bolt release is too wide.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Remove the bolt release and apply a small amount of DECON aluminum putty to the side of the bolt to make it thicker and file it down until it is a tight fit, or have a gunsmith machine a custom bolt release lever, or sent it in for warranty work.

    4) The gun is extremely over gas which initially caused me, a left-handed shooter, to occasionally receive casings and gas blow back in my face.

MY SOLUTION: I had to mount the scope further back which positions my face from the ejection area. Note that I do not have this issue when shooting my AR-15 left handed.

    5) The flash hider came loose after 500 rounds.

MY SOLUTION: Replace the factory crush washer and reinstalled and timed the flash hider.

    6) The threads on the muzzle are longer than the standard AR configuration and some muzzle devices can not be tightened without using either a ton of crush washers or a threaded jam nut.

MY SOLUTION: When I replaced the stock flash hider with a JP Enterprises flash hider, I had to use two crush washers to seat and time it correctly. I choose a flash hider over a muzzle break because the recoil is very manageable for a .308 rifle, and follow up shots are not that hard to do with a little practice. The role of this gun is DMR, to hit targets at a maximum of 800 yards, not CQB, that’s what I have an AR-15 for.

    7) The barrel, bolt carrier group, and gas tube are not standard DPMS parts so you will need to refer to S&W to get these replaced, and good luck in getting spare parts from them. I was told on the phone that S&W does not sell replacement parts.

    8) The warranty is voided if any parts of the gun is changed with the exception of the Mapul parts that come installed on the gun. Some manufactures do not void the warranty as long as the installed part is not the cause of the malfunction, not S&W!

With all these initial problems, I would still recommend buying this gun due to its light weight of 8 lbs., which is really light for an AR-10. I could have used the warranty, but the turnaround times were too long so I fixed what I could.

My current configuration is a NightForce NXS 2.5 x 10 42mm scope, Warne skeletonized scope mount, a Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) Trigger, a Mission First Tactical Battlelink Minimalist Stock Collapsible AR-15, LR-308 Polymer, a JP Enterprises Flash Hider, 9 PMAG® 25 LR/SR GEN M3™ Window Magazine, and a Magpul MS4® Dual QD Sling GEN2. I haven’t weighed it yet, but even with a full magazine, it is lighter than my Ruger Gunsite Scout with a 3.5 x 15 50mm scope, and my M1A Socom 16.

My future upgrades will include a Midwest Industries free floating rail, a SLR Rifleworks Sentry 7 adjustable stainless Steel .750-inch gas block with Melonite QPQ Finish to reduce the over gassing, and a Spartan 300 bipod system which uses a magnet to attach the bipod to the rail.

Hope I was thorough enough in my comments. As I said, It is an extremely accurate rifle for the money.

I hope to see you try some lighter weight ammo 125grn not just the regular 147-175grn. The lighter rounds can be very accurate and are popular in the competitive shooting circles.

  9. Eman19O on July 5, 2023 at 5:24 am

How on earth do they afford so many guns? lol

  10. Fresh Fowler on July 5, 2023 at 5:25 am

I have heard awesome things about S&W M&P 10 platform and if I had to buy one instead of build my own (which I have done already) I would get this rifle! Can’t wait to see how impressed you will be in the range review. 👍

  11. Epifanny M-S on July 5, 2023 at 5:25 am

I just purchase my S&W AR-10 .. i would like to buy a scope and upgrade the hand guard .. any advice?? Appreciate it ..

  12. JB on July 5, 2023 at 5:26 am

Hello sir! I have the same AR. Working on mods. Have you tried a suppressor on it? If so, How does it perform? Looking to see if it’s worth the trouble going through the process.

  13. Gage Layman on July 5, 2023 at 5:27 am

So How does the MP10 Compare to the DB10? I noticed you have both of these rifles in your reviews. They both seem very close in terms of fit/finish, but the DB10 looks a bit beefier. Also, awesome camerawork/reviews. Subbed

  14. Affordable Armory on July 5, 2023 at 5:27 am

    Awesome gun. Absolutely awesome.

  15. Michael Taylor on July 5, 2023 at 5:28 am

I appreciate the classic look. For guys that just want functionality, that’s what it offers. Guys that want more than that can to pay for upgrading the looks without improving function, just like paying for American Eagle rather than Walmart brand clothes.

  16. Greg Mason on July 5, 2023 at 5:28 am

Didn’t even know they came out with a Sport version of this until today

  17. We Run Guns on July 5, 2023 at 5:29 am

    Nice review, just subbed!

    Wow 👍👍👍👍👍

  19. willieboy3011 Jonas on July 5, 2023 at 5:30 am

Nice review. What did you use to tap the pins with the mallet? I’m planning on getting one next year. I haven’t shot a M-16 in over 40 years. Never liked 5.56, but .308 I do like.

  20. Fierce Mouse on July 5, 2023 at 5:32 am

Shouldn’t the gas block be pinned? I’d replace that If I had one

  21. David Dickerson on July 5, 2023 at 5:32 am

It’s a nice looking rifle. I’m not sure I would feel comfortable with it though….

  22. Jeremiah P on July 5, 2023 at 5:40 am

Best AR10 for the $ imo.

  23. Roberto Gandia on July 5, 2023 at 5:41 am

Bought one of this at a famous sportsman store in Cali. Got a chance to shoot it yesterday and had a lot of issues.. 10 of them. All the issues on a rifle it happened. Stove pipe, double feed . Extracts shell but won’t feed. Bolt doesn’t lock back after last shot. Supposed to be semi auto but I’m doing a bolt action.. sending it back. I hope smith &wesson can fix it🙏

  24. Clifford C on July 5, 2023 at 5:44 am

That ambi bolt release is purely the only reason I started looking into m&p 10’s I’m surprised no other companies have done it yet. It’s a huge selling factor I bet. I wish I could take that lower and put a dpms G2 upper on it. The Perfect 762 AR. And once that happens GOD him self will thank us for such a beautiful creation.

  25. Mike E on July 5, 2023 at 5:44 am

Looks bad ass! Think I’ll pick one up!

  26. David Valencia on July 5, 2023 at 5:46 am

I went to buy ammo and seen this gun today and I had to have it now looking at reviews I’m so much more pleased!

  27. Douglas on July 5, 2023 at 5:50 am

I really like that more manufacturers are going ambitious. ( I’m a lefty) seem like a terrific platform for that caliber. And would be well received for so many used to it. I LIKE it! Thanks for posting 👍🏼

  28. フメラフランチ on July 5, 2023 at 5:54 am

i have one, but with a custom muzzle break . i engage multiple targets at 600 yds . it is a fantastic rifle. already shooted 1150 rounds since 2015  the barrel us "heavy" one like this in the video and is a 1:10 5r 18" barrel ( this is what they sell in italy)

  29. Scinan Isern on July 5, 2023 at 5:54 am

Im left handed… I like the options. I like the 308 and the options for big game. I like the AR build. All around, a great design, a great round, a great choice for the hunt.

  30. Liam B on July 5, 2023 at 5:56 am

    Amazing gun for the money.

  31. x.adam1 . . . on July 5, 2023 at 5:59 am

I bought the M&P10 but not the sport version. I got the full length version. I enjoyed my M&P15 in 5.56 and this seemed like the logical choice since I wanted to go up in caliber. I didn’t own any .308 before this one. So far I’m happy with it. It is 100% solid and reliable. I’m adding a free float rail to have it match my M&P 15. Its true that I did a lot more research on the AR10 platform because mine was $1300 before taxes w/o upgrades so I wanted to make sure I was going to be happy.
