The Taurus Judge Public Defender is one of those handguns I’ve never fully understood the perceived utility of. The Taurus Judge is a .410 shotgun first, and a .45 LC pistol second. How does the Judge perform with various .410 shotgun loads? We find out!

If s+w made something that could chamber .45LC .410 and .454 cassul and maybe even something hotter that can make for full use of the .410 load or make a .45 proprietary shot shell that’s as or more powerful than a .410 as most of the length of a .410 is the wadding and also something you can reload that would be amazing.
A 6 shot the cylinder would not have to be so long and maybe a way or cylinder for .45acp for target.

It would be cheap to make shotgun rounds with polymer or even brass that are the size of .45lc and .454 cassul.

It would make for a great survival revolver as you can take down bears with . 454 snakes with shotshells, use any flavor of. 45 for self defense and use . 45 shot shells for hunting small game, birds and such.

Not many people use .410 so may as well make a short short gun round with shorter wadding made for revolvers so the cylinder is not long and it could be a lot more powerful than .410 could even make one for .44 and .500
One made for. 357 would only be good for snakeshot.

    That’s a killer!

  3. CircleWilliams on May 8, 2023 at 4:12 am

I’ve always wanted one. Taurus could’ve easily named it Blackbeard or some other pirate/blunderbuss themed name.

  4. Chris Holder on May 8, 2023 at 4:13 am

I was seriously considering buying this revolver.
Thanks to your video, however, I won’t be even
remotely thinking about buying this mess of a
    creation.

  5. LucianLacroix on May 8, 2023 at 4:15 am

    Taurus is Brazilian for garbage!

  6. Rodger B on May 8, 2023 at 4:16 am

Wyatt Earp said “if you wanna kill somebody use a rifle.” It would be a reasonably safe assumption, if you wanted to kill somebody, a rifle cartridge would be 50% of that equation.🤓

Any idiot who says revolvers don’t malfunction has never had a bullet jump crimp, as I’ve had with my S&W 329 PD with Winchester White Box (anemic) .44 mag factory loads. Took a screwdriver to get it working again.

Edit-I have a BFR .45/.410 with a 6" barrel and its buckshot patterns are BARELY passable. I killed a grey fox at 10 yards and had to shoot it twice.

  8. The Shadow Philospher on May 8, 2023 at 4:17 am

I wonder how it would fair if you used a full metal version

  9. Albert Kinney on May 8, 2023 at 4:18 am

Got one I inherited from my dad love it and man a 410 slug will mess up some stuff quick.

  10. OpenGate on May 8, 2023 at 4:19 am

Sir you are a terrible actor and your exaggerated negativity makes this video a complete waste of time. Gfy

  11. JonFoster48386 on May 8, 2023 at 4:20 am

I went with the Governor over the Judge because the of the better quality of S&W. Having said that, my Governor had light primer strikes on about 20% of the shot shells tried until the firing pin was replaced with a longer third party firing pin. It was fine with .45 Colt and .45 ACP. Which was another selling point to me for the Governor. You can shoot the .410’s, .45 Colt and .45 ACP with moon clips. Plus the Governor is a six shot pistol vs. the Judge being a five shot pistol. We also use Magtech .410 brass hulls and .444 Marlin brass to load our own shot shells. I think it’s a pretty fun pistol. It isn’t used for self defense though…

  12. John Riddick on May 8, 2023 at 4:20 am

Bruh your using trash ammo. The Taurus needs good ammo. Federal 000 Buck will put down a human at 15 yards with all pellets on target

  13. cvshooter61 on May 8, 2023 at 4:21 am

With all due respect bud, i carry the judge on a regular basis, and have not had any of the issues you described. I shoot A LOT of ammo through this gun. Not only is it accurate, but it has never jammed using shot shells
I shoot more 45 LC through it than anything, but have seen no issues with either. While i do own many different hand guns, the Judge is my favorite. I love this gun!
I am brand new to your channel, and look forward to watching more of your videos.
    Thanks.

  14. Tretre on May 8, 2023 at 4:22 am

What causes blown primers??? Ive seen it first hand, but never understood why/how?

  15. Mk Shffr on May 8, 2023 at 4:22 am

At across the room range buckshot can be extremely effective but one factor to consider… Have you tried to find a 45LC double action at reasonable prices lately?

As to your comparing to the 9mm my guess that very few people are trying to decide between a wonder nine and a big bore revolver.

  16. nunya buisiness on May 8, 2023 at 4:27 am

Why do I carry a Taurus Judge? It’s a .410 for snakes, coyote, and other "varmints", and a .45 colt for bear & other genuine threats. If it weren’t so rough on barrels, I’d be loading shotshells in .45-70 for my "Alaskan hiker EDC".
Is there a reason yours is a stubby instead of having a real barrel? I get much better shot dispersion from mine, but it looks like I’ve got about twice the barrel. (Might also be why I don’t seem to catch so much recoil)
I’ve had a few problems with extremely old .45 colt casings, the rear rim was too thick and dragged. – Looks like that’s what your 1st cylinder of .410 was doing.
If you find any old brass .410 shells, those won’t expand like a plastic hull, so they’ll eject easier.

Great gun? Not really. Good gun? Yea, it does what I bought it for.

  17. Pug on May 8, 2023 at 4:27 am

    User error lol

  18. The Spaminator on May 8, 2023 at 4:29 am

I do not like the judge. But. The shells that are getting stuck (most of them) are 3in shells. That version is rated for 2 1/2in shells only. There are 3in versions with longer cylinders. Judge still sucks.

  19. Caio Rodrigues on May 8, 2023 at 4:30 am

Please do not help this company to grow in your country, it is from Brazil and here it has adopted a policy of gun control with the government, Brazilian shooters have suffered a lot with such measures. Don’t support a company that doesn’t support the freedom of your countrymen. Please help us in this battle.

  20. Michael Kaye on May 8, 2023 at 4:30 am

    *public Defender

  21. 42icee on May 8, 2023 at 4:32 am

Yup pretty much tells me I don’t want one. I will stick with ruger and colt

  22. Jeff Cross on May 8, 2023 at 4:34 am

Instead of using the crap polymer judgment you use the Smith & Wesson Governor.

  23. F4 Insight on May 8, 2023 at 4:34 am

If you a not a very good shot then perhaps being able to shoot shotgun ammo Eg: Buckshot could be useful for certain people.
That is the only reason I can think of.

  24. Lord Tule on May 8, 2023 at 4:36 am

I have the Poly Judge and like others have mention, switching to the Pachmayer full-sized grip makes a huge difference. I bought it knowing it was more of a fun gun, but I do keep it bedside loaded with various increasing to fatal rounds. If I was able to open carry, it would be the Judge as an intimidation factor, iykyk or iydkyd. Okay, that sounds silly because there are much bigger guns, but those much bigger guns can be unwieldy, the Poly Judge is not. Given all that, I’m also carrying a SA 9mm deep concealed as the alternate primary weapon.

  25. Bye Felicia on May 8, 2023 at 4:36 am

This is my snaker blaster 3500

  26. Curt Richardson on May 8, 2023 at 4:37 am

I love buckshot! ♥️LOVE 💕 it!! 💣💥☠️⚰️however,I never had any luck with any Taurus semi auto.I wouldn’t have one, personally.

  27. Jonathan Drown on May 8, 2023 at 4:39 am

Only judge I’ve ever seen in person was carried by a guy who ended up having a felony warrant, and was already a felon. The judge is the quintessential “don’t know anything about guns but I’m buying one” gun

  28. Bill Whitmire on May 8, 2023 at 4:42 am

I don’t think the revolver is obsolete
Sometimes you say dumb shit 🤣

  29. FastLtG on May 8, 2023 at 4:43 am

    Mine has never locked up

  30. TofuRacer on May 8, 2023 at 4:43 am

Saw a YouTube video of a guy shooting a cop with this unexpectedly just know the cop was not injured in anyway

  31. JustMeOrMaybeNot on May 8, 2023 at 4:44 am

My SS Judge has never performed as poorly as this. Obviously, the performance will vary with ammo type and brand.

"Because they’re morons. Because they are total morons."

  33. BlackHeart Gaming on May 8, 2023 at 4:44 am

What holster plastic or metal would be great for the judge

  34. #29 on May 8, 2023 at 4:45 am

A robber would easily rob you. You do too much talking instead of shooting. " Shoot, don’t talk! Shoot!"__ The Ugly.

  35. V on May 8, 2023 at 4:48 am

Buckshot can’t be traced lol. That’s why.

  36. Bananaboat180 on May 8, 2023 at 4:48 am

They are good snake guns with birdshot or rat shot, but that’s about it.

  37. Greg Borror on May 8, 2023 at 4:49 am

I own a Taurus Judge (among other firearms). I bought it for one reason only…. RV park defense. When in an RV park, you are generally right next to RV’s on both sides. Having had an accidental 9 mm discharge in my travel trailer, I understand how many RV’s a 9 mm round can penetrate. 7 1/2 bird shot will probably discourage the intruder, and I have my 9 mm for backup. 7 1/2 shot will not likely wound my RV neighbor. I would not rely on it for a carry weapon.

  38. thomas nelson on May 8, 2023 at 4:50 am

I will never own this gun….😡

  39. Mark Matroni on May 8, 2023 at 4:50 am

    Beats no gun at all.

  40. John Riddick on May 8, 2023 at 4:51 am

Hes such a bug pussy lol i bet he makes out with his glock. Use better ammo dude and you don’t have issues. Crying at a 45LC recoil while im over here shooting 454 cassul and hotloaded 44 mag

  41. Michael Kaye on May 8, 2023 at 4:55 am

I own the actual judge and not the public defender… that hurt your hand? You have to have really bad arthritis or you didn’t think that firing a 000 buck shell would be stronger than a little 9mm. Come on dude…

  42. Kylen Monahan on May 8, 2023 at 4:57 am

As a judge owner, the cylinder lockup is a you problem. I almost exclusively fire 410 (slugs, 00 buck, and bird) and I’ve never had an issue.

  43. ira onok on May 8, 2023 at 4:59 am

Open a target load that functions well, play with the innards, could get punchy. I do wish it had a longer barrel tho, and was a governor. Don’t trust Taurus, myself, for anything but a laugh at the range. Everything about them feels sketchy, and odd. Played with a slide/barrel ported 45, when i was in the service. Thing didn’t like sunshine, the same magazine twice, rain, or expectations, but, when it functioned properly, it was the most accurate 45 i ever shot. Taurus, i just don’t know what to say about them

  44. Sean Kane on May 8, 2023 at 5:00 am

You have it backwards, it’s a .45 long colt that Also chambers .410.

  45. David Waid on May 8, 2023 at 5:03 am

    Your a complete dumb ass

  46. RShort223 on May 8, 2023 at 5:04 am

I’d never own a polymer handheld shotgun. I do own the stainless steel, 3" barreled, 3"magnum version. It has never locked up no mater what I’ve shot out it. It is surely for short or no-legged critter repelling more than anything else, though.

  47. Curtis Barrow on May 8, 2023 at 5:04 am

I think you missed the real purpose: this thing has the mythical spread of a "real" shotgun…Bird shot into arms, legs and feet of threatening rioters could work nicely…but that would generally be illegal, so that doesn’t seem to be viable either…hmmm…

And would the felt recoil of those heavy .410’s be significantly less in an all metal Judge?

  48. d mx on May 8, 2023 at 5:04 am

People are buying this thing for snakes…from what I heard. Could you use it for self defense? Of course but not ideal. Its just a snake gun.

  49. DLGAK on May 8, 2023 at 5:04 am

I had one and loved it. I had to sell it.

  50. Mustang Marine on May 8, 2023 at 5:05 am

The only viable self-defense application for this gun is for anti-car-hikacking events. Close range devastating head shot.
