Thanks for showing me how it is supposed to be used.
The other gun that has the grip safety to and a secondary safety I own one and I can’t say more about it you’re right awesome gun
Due to old age and failing health I recently bought one of these guns, I
like it a lot. However when it arrived in came without any safety.
Does anyone know if it is safe to carry with a round in the chamber with
only the grip safety? I have an inside the waistband holster that is
very tight. By the way this gun costs $1000.00 + in Israel, so you see how lucky you are to live in the USA.
Stumbled on your channel. I love it! I am a complete wuss when it comes to recoil. I am going to grab one of these!
Thinking about getting one of these for my second gun I like .380 it’s a decent round and easy on my messed up hands
I love my .380 Shield ez! I have a physical disability and this gun was the answer to my personal protection prayers.
One of the most entertaining reviews I’ve ever watched. Also, very accurate. My tiny wife loves her EZ! Great job, sir.
I just bought one two days ago and I’ve only shot one box so far, but I’m loving it. I’m a old man with arthritic fingers, so I was concerned about racking any gun. I tried a few at the shop and really struggled to rack them, but this one was a breeze to rack. And a breeze to load the magazines. I’m still new to gun ownership, but I’m very pleased with this as my first gun.
Great vid! Caliber don’t mean sh…t. Shot placement and situational awareness is all. I own two 380s, this one and Glock 42. Both superior weapons that require little muscle memory to work. I also own several bigger pistols that I like. They’ll be home locked up probably when I need one. These 380s will be with me. I subbed.
Ugh, I’m so in love with this gun. It was my first firearm and honestly you can’t go wrong with it. Get you a light that has a laser built into it and you’re good to go.
I couldn’t agree more with your assessment of this pistol. It is amazing. I spent a couple of decades as a law enforcement officer, and am a big guy. I always looked upon .380 as a ladies gun, even though as a detective I investigated more than a few shootings in which the .380 ACP was a show stopper.
I am now retired due to physical disability, and had gotten to the point that more than half of the time I was unable to fully operate ANY of the handguns I owned. An elderly gentleman pointed me toward the .380 EZ and I am so thankful that he did.
I still own other handguns, but my .380 EZ is now my go-to firearm for self protection. The others get fired only on occasion. My .380 EZ is my all day/every day gun, and Smith & Wesson has earned my support as a customer for life because from what I can tell… they are the ONLY manufacturer who took the time to think of us folks with disabilities, and that means a lot to me.
Mine sports a Galloway Precision flat face trigger, XS Big Dot night sights, and an Olight PL2 Mini Valkyrie weapon light. I feel adequately protected with this pistol.
Trash gun. Spent money on a paperweight basically. Shit doesn’t even fire and I just got it out the box.
My wife just bought one of these, for the reason you described. She had great difficulty racking the slide on anything else in it’s class. She just tried it out at the range yesterday and really likes it, except for the grip safety. I told her if she was gripping the gun properly that wouldn’t be an issue. I shot it some myself and it operates flawlessly. One thing to be aware of though, this isn’t a striker fired gun (that’s why you don’t have to pull the trigger to disassemble it). It has a single-action-only internal hammer and it’s always cocked (that’s why the trigger pull is so short and light). The only way to de-cock it is by pulling the trigger on an empty chamber. Think of it as like a 1911 except you can’t see the hammer or get to it to cock or de-cock it. And without the optional thumb safety you have only the grip safety and a short light SA trigger pull to make it fire. That doesn’t sound like the ideal gun for beginners to me. But I guess that’s the tradeoff for making everything EZ.
I have weirdly shaped hands, and tried a dozen gun in the shop to find one that actually fits my broad palms and short fingers. Most guns pistols I have to rotate my hand so instead of bracing the grip in the palm of my hand, it’s braced on my thumb joint. this cause both joint pain and mess with my shooting. but the .380 ez was like a glove and is the most accurate I’ve ever shot with a pistol.
Best review of this gun I’ve seen. Also very entertaining!!!!!
Haha the imitation of the husbands and wives with their gun is so on point 🤣
Outside the USA, most countries do not allow civilians to own anything greater than a .38 caliber gun and many police still use .38 caliber sidearms, especially in Europe and South America. Up until the mid-1980s, police departments in the USA were still using .38 caliber revolvers. The point is, I’m not sure how or why this “the .38/.380 is a wimpy caliber” nonsense came from. My EDC is a Glock 42 with the Vicker’s Tactical +2 mag mod. While my friends are squirming with their 9mm/.40 cal Glocks by the end of the day or stop carrying them altogether, I’m always comfortably armed. There is practically speaking no such thing as a defensive “gunfight,” where you are going to be reloading a magazine. I bought the .380 EZ for home defense and car carry for my wife. Prior to that she “attempted” to use a Ruger LCP II, which even makes my hand sore after 50 rounds, plus she couldn’t hit the side of a barn with it. With the the EZ, she’s hitting all 8 rounds center mass at 15 yards. I’m really tired of all the EZ bashers who are predictably Glock or Sig fanboys.
6:53 "maybe you’re single" well then my grip is concrete strong, isn’t it? I’d tear the slide off🙃
👍 great review.
I had no idea this gun was poo pooed by some men. Just purchased mine. As a 72 years old widow, I fell in love with it the second I held it. It’s easy to conceal and easy to use. Just what I needed. This is my first handgun but I’ll be getting more. Looks like I’ve found a new hobby, too. Thank you for speaking highly of the 380. What’s the point of carrying protection if one cannot effectively and confidently handle it? You rock. 💗
Great video man! It’s funny right… I feel like firearms are a lot like motorcycles… I’m not ashamed to say I ride a Honda Shadow 750… I LOVE it! But oh yeah, plenty dudes out there gimme shit and ask when I’m gonna get a real bike! lolol… For me, it’s a great bike and it’s comfy as hell! I feel firearms should be the same. If you’re not comfortable, then what the hell ya doing? The 380 Shield was my first handgun purchase (and I had the opportunity to fire a ton of guns cuz my trainer owns everything and is a good friend) … but this was one of my favorites. So… we slapped down the cash… and it feels both reliable and comfortable every time I fire it!
Need to review the Performance Center version of this gun. The stepped up upgrades make this gun a solid EDC. Forget the whole “EZ slide for beginners/women” thing. It’s a great shooter regardless the hands that are holding it, easy conceal, and priced very well.
I enjoyed your video. Thank you
Took my lady to look at one of these yesterday, ended up pulling the trigger and making the purchase. She has shot many of my 9mm pistols before but this will be her first owned pistol and she really liked the feel of the ez platform and ended up choosing the 380 as she felt more comfortable and confident with it.
Love mine. Had two malfunctions out of 500 rounds. Will keep shooting to see how it does.
Thanks first time seeing this.
The trigger is probably nice because it’s hammer fired.
I have one and like every thing about it
Does the S&W recall apply to this gun?
New shooter here. Love this gun. Great review!
You had me paying attention, but also laughing, great video.
are you going to get the ruger security 380?
Thanks for a review with humor. Very nice gun glad to own one
Is there an aftermarket "ported-slide" available for Shield .380 EZ 2.0? If so, what is the URL please? Thanks!
I’m 56, 5’ 2” 113lbs with a touch of arthritis. I can handle this gun with absolutely 0 issues. I looooove it and it is now my forever gun!!! My S&W .38 revolver is still loved but has been demoted
Bought one for my wife last week. 66 yo, never shot a hand gun, and nervous! I just ordered 1000 rounds for her because now she wants to shoot all the time! I love it too!
I tried one. Contrary to what I was led to believe would happen, my beard didn’t fall out, my bore-cleaner didn’t shrink, and and my voice didn’t drop 2 octaves. I’m surprised, and confused, but also very happy with my amazing new carry gun!
Also, this review was great, you earned a sub!
😀
I live In a Kkk controlled area our gums our required to locked up and empty? I don’t understand why did I even bother going to the right channels to get a gun when it’s useless. I’m a fucking criminal in my own country for wanting to own a pistol also the CCL goes through the police ? And or the state FFS I live in an outdoor jail literally
Major Payne!!!
I won this gun in a raffle for $40 so I don’t care what you call it girl gun or elderly gun, it’s my $40 gun and I’m gonna love it 😂 ps also my first pistol
I carry one of these, and personally I’d recommend it to anyone. There’s something about .380 auto that’s just so damn fun at the range. And when it comes to self defense, the ease of use far outweighs the trade off for a little bit less ballistic performance. Id rather hit my shots more accurately and constantly than get a negligible increase in penetration.
First gun was this pistol and it feels and shoots amazing. They make it in 9 mm also which I love
Excellent presentation – well spoken
Good video, but love my G42 with 21 deg grip angle, the true point and shoot angle. However, as some other comments here, a “Double Stack” would be tempting! Always trying to cram more rounds into any carry along with an increase GIRTH into the grip helps my accuracy. I would love to try the G28 (blowback design) if it were allowed to be imported or now manufactured here in the U.S.
The SW EZ 9mm doesn’t eject, however. Have both the grip and thumb safety.
I’m a 63 yr old woman that has owned one for a year. I love it. I know I’m not a man with strong hands to handle even a 9mm. The M&P 380 Shield EZ is my carry of choice. Yes, mine comes with the ambidextrous safeties. The only problem I have run into finding a left-handed holster or something over-the-waistband appendix style to keep it closer to my body. Something like that for me has been almost impossible to find online. I think it will have to be a custom made holster for this leftie. Thanks for the video! 👍🏼
2nd EZ 380 I have had. I love mine. Accurate and feels good. I still carry my 1911 45 and 9mm but there are times I grab my MP380.
Nice clear job big guy
As a US Army veteran I never go anywhere without a handgun.. When my MS progressed I could no longer rack the slide on my Glock 9mm or my Sig. I thought I was going to go to a hammerless revolver until the guy at the range asked me if I had seen the EZ….SO glad he did! I shot 2 boxes of ammo and then crossed the store and bought one! I also bought a loading assist since even with the tabs I had a hard time (but it’s new so that may adjust over time). This gun will always have the grip safety, but you can get it with a secondary ambidextrous thumb saftey. Very easy to carry and a blast to shoot. The most accurate gun out of the box I’ve ever had….
I carry this as my EDC love it
