I have a Smith 586 and a Taurus 65. Both .357mag. I don’t know if the 65 had trigger work, but it has an amazing trigger. L frame vs. approximately K frame.

Very much like comparing the finest Japanese Sushi to canned cat food. You can use either, but… !!!
(This posted by someone who has received THREE, PRE-BROKEN-AT-THE-FACTORY, BRAND NEW TAURUS REVOLVERS, IN A ROW!!) If you cannot do your own gunsmithing, don’t buy a Taurus.

I own a 6" Black 689VR since 7 years now. very accurate, very reliable. Purchased it 550 euros. Best bang for the bucks for sure.

This guy’s just nitpicking he’s selling guns for Smith & Wesson

  11. Jim Sauer on February 21, 2023 at 2:27 am

The Taurus actually looks better, I have a S&W 686 plus with the four inch barrel and rubber grip. It’s my only revolver and it’s a blast to use.

  12. Jeff Goodin on February 21, 2023 at 2:29 am

    Love my wheel guns.

  13. Dale Weller on February 21, 2023 at 2:30 am

I believe the 38 dies are the same as the 357 ,just some adjustment.

300 dollars on everything under 1000 is NOT a little bit.

  15. Merelle Main on February 21, 2023 at 2:33 am

    S&W every time!

  16. paul williams on February 21, 2023 at 2:33 am

Why do all these YouTubers only shoot single action

  17. Harley Grit on February 21, 2023 at 2:34 am

Like comparing a Vette to a Prius! Taurus can’t hold a candle to S&W 686… frankly, I’d be a little scared to shoot any Taurus…

  18. David Merlino on February 21, 2023 at 2:35 am

  19. Hugo Anibal Perales Puentes on February 21, 2023 at 2:41 am

This Taurus si more like a K frame Smith & wesson revolver, despite the precense of the full underlug the comparative would be more with K frame smith & wesson like the model 19 (model 15 and 19 have better trigger feel than the modelo 686)

  20. Will on February 21, 2023 at 2:41 am

Great video. The superiority of Smith & Wesson is obvious. The accuracy issue ALONE justifies the added cost (especially since 357 ammo is expensive).

  22. Reuben Gold on February 21, 2023 at 2:42 am

Taurus made in Brazil. Don’t want it. S&W made in the USA. That’s the one I want.

  23. Moo Butt on February 21, 2023 at 2:42 am

Gimme a 7rd GP100 or 8rd Redhawk. You can keep these.

  24. Robert RamJam on February 21, 2023 at 2:45 am

I just purchased a 689 4 inch. The Smith is nice but that horse cock thick grip would throw me off. Taurus all the way.

  25. Joan Manuel on February 21, 2023 at 2:45 am

Smith Wesson has the advantage of its well-deserved reputation for quality and performance, but it must be recognized that Taurus is a brand of very good quality, performance and price, and that it always has a great "match" with Smith Wesson models. It should not be ignored that the Dan Wesson brand is in the same line, with a very positive trajectory and quality, in addition to its "kinship" with Smith & Wesson!!

  26. Teddy Vee on February 21, 2023 at 2:45 am

S&W has cylinder stop on left side of frame. It’s below and to the left of the cylinder release. Taurus does not. Nice review however. Right to the point.

What are you talking about you don’t cut the hammer off it doesn’t stick down into the holster what are you talking about it’s only wrong this was my duty pistol you don’t have no idea what you’re talking about you don’t cut the hammer off they never get close to the holster

  29. David Merlino on February 21, 2023 at 2:47 am

Really the cleaning process on the outside of a cylinder you just don’t know what you’re talking about I have a Taurus 689 what a brand new 1990 I’ve got over 38,000 rounds to it yes 38,000 rounds original barrel still attack driver not hard to clean it you’re making stupid assumptions you don’t know what you’re talking about thumbs down

  30. Minute Man on February 21, 2023 at 2:53 am

Tarurus serves its purpose well, it’s all about what you want.

Great video, very detailed and thorough!!

  34. Darrell Terry on February 21, 2023 at 2:59 am

New to your videos and I find them refreshing ,well done.

  35. BH Michigan on February 21, 2023 at 2:59 am

Honestly … if you know anything about Guns … you do not need a video to tell you which is a better revolver between SW and Taurus …. or for that matter a Ruger and Taurus.
But you did a very good video

  36. 986C on February 21, 2023 at 3:01 am

Ruger just always feels like the knock of version of a Colt and/or Smith…

  37. Claud B on February 21, 2023 at 3:03 am

We unfortunately do not have the ability to shoot them side by side. I regularly wonder about trigger pull graphs how much they vary from one gun of the same type to the other. After long, "study," I ended up buying the S&W 686 PLUS (seven shot model). Re: burned gun powder on the cylinder. It is there with the 686 as well. Polish? Any, "polish," is an abrasive. You are wearing away very minimal amounts of metal each time you do it. I’m no expert but, I’ve read the Taurus is cast stainless and the S&W is forged. May not apply but my experience with tools, forged is far better stronger etc. The S&W 686 shown with the firing pin on the hammer. They’ve not been made that way in years-claimed safety advantage. Trigger pull data etc,. I’m not sure it is the same. Price on everything OUCH. New 849 used 899 bought a NEW one.

  38. Dave Killen on February 21, 2023 at 3:03 am

You know why do you even put these videos out your pro SW over Taurus can’t even give you the time

  39. David Merlino on February 21, 2023 at 3:05 am

I hate people that don’t know what they’re talking about you are just like a thousand percent wrong wrong but you make money from people watching your video but you’re wrong

  40. Defenstrator on February 21, 2023 at 3:05 am

    If I want a cheaper gun than a S&W I’ll buy a Ruger.

  41. Dave Bielke on February 21, 2023 at 3:06 am

Funny how you only like single action,..the Smith is far superior in double action. It’s not an accurate comparison ruling out double action..

  42. Chow Monkey on February 21, 2023 at 3:07 am

Lol, the cleaning part got me to move on.

  43. Why-Phi on February 21, 2023 at 3:08 am

I always wonder why people read the scale as β€œ2.9lbs” when it should be β€œ2lbs 9.4oz” πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Good video though πŸ‘πŸΎ

  44. mpetersen6 on February 21, 2023 at 3:08 am

Like the 586 6" with target sights.

  45. David Merlino on February 21, 2023 at 3:09 am

I have a Taurus 689 4-in barrel with the hammer by the way if your hair was getting caught in your holster you don’t have the correct holster for it it was my duty pistol and never had a problem cleaning off residue on the outside of the cylinder never ever ever you don’t know what you’re talking about think you need to shut down you have no idea what you’re talking about I have over 38,000 rounds through my Taurus 689 4-in mint rib for the seven Magnum no problem with it it’s still on time and it’s attack driver I was actually the high point of the academy I was more accurate and I shot alongside of semi-imagnes or 40s they called me hightower yeah that’s right from the movie and they call me Clint Eastwood you have no idea what you’re talking about

  46. Dave Engstrom on February 21, 2023 at 3:09 am

I heard once that when the company was sold in the 70s Taurus bought some of the equipment so their pistols were made on the same machines that S&W had used prior to the sale. That explains the similar look.

  47. African Diaspora on February 21, 2023 at 3:10 am

Taurus is just a cheaper version of Smith & Wesson . Didn’t S&W buy Taurus ?

  48. Kerwin Au on February 21, 2023 at 3:12 am

Hey Kimo, What day did you go to Koko Head? Every time I went there it was never empty?

  49. HeWasA DragonMan on February 21, 2023 at 3:14 am

    UN-BIASED OPINION!
I was shopping for my first revolver. I went to a gun shop with a shooting range. I shot a Taurus 686 and a S&W 629 with a few dozen rounds of .357 tmj. The Taurus banged on every shot. So did the S&W. They both "looked" very similar, but completely different quality standards.
The Taurus had a rough/sloppy trigger, sloppy cylinder, too fat of a grip for me personally, dinner plate groups at 15 yards, and got dirty very fast.
The S&W had a smooth trigger, took more rounds to get dirty, had a more comfortable grip for my smaller hands, shot tighter groups and the cylinder was tighter than the Taurus. The Taurus works, but the S&W works better. I’m saving that extra $300 for the S&W.

  50. jblcva on February 21, 2023 at 3:15 am

At one time Taurus and S&W came out of the same factory.
