Strikeman Laser Training: Honest Review, Returning it.

Strikeman Laser Training: Honest Review, Returning it.

UPDATE:
I’ve just received the Mantis Laser Academy system and started testing it.
So far, so much better than the Strikeman.
Video’s start here:

Forgot to mention, it also does not work with my PAK 9. It will light the laser when fired, but the laser stays on until the pistol is recycled. So my two favorite guns don’t work with this system.

I had been eyeballing the Strikeman laser training system for a while and finally decided to buy it a few weeks ago. I installed the ‘old’ version of the app on my phone and played around with it for a bit after placing the order.
By the time the ‘system’ arrived, the app had been updated, and some features were either removed or broken. Just look at recent app reviews on the Google Play store for more details.

Main gripes:
No longer calls out your score on each shot.
If you do a 2 round training session, you can only see the 2nd round’s data, the first round is just MIA.
The Auto Calibration generally doesn’t.
When starting a new session you must re-zoom the camera and re-calibrate every freaking time.
The app asks you if you want to Repeat your Session. Saying Repeat just starts over and deletes your previous session.

Strikeman is pushing their new Strikeman Pro app, which costs $10/mo or $100/year.
I’m assuming many of the features that are disabled in the ‘free’ app are now exclusively in the paid app.
It should also be noted that in Strikeman’s video promoting the Strikeman Pro App, they state the ‘game modes’ and many cool features only work with the new Pro Targets, not the Circle that comes with the original Strikeman.

So, anyways, I’m probably returning this before my 15 days expire for the reasons above.

I haven’t been able to check it out for myself yet because it’s only been 9 days since I ordered and paid the $15 fee for shipping a plastic target holder and a cheap phone tripod

Thank you for acknowledging the subscription fee. I didn’t realize I had to pay a service fee to use the $400 dollar over priced kit that came with it. Cool I payed a bunch of money for a thing I cant use and have to be strong armed into buying the damn app that should be free period. But any positive things about it were absolutely destroyed with that subscription fee BS and now I have to deal with customer services and the return process bleh.

Oh and yeah everything that was free on the original version is all on the pro. You basically cant do anything with it unless you buy the pro version. But hey spend $400 and get 14 day free trail lol.

Just bought the strikeman 556/223, and every time I fire the Lazer stays lit, until I recock, my firing pin still stays slightly against the rubber firing pad on the bullet Lazer, so I think it’s completely garbage, it tracks all kinds of shots through recocking.

Great video but what a piece of rip off garbage the Strikeman is. A friend of mine bought two of the Strikeman systems and gave me one of them. What a cheap piece of garbage. The target stand and phone holder are flimsy pieces of plastic garbage. I was a US military weapons instructor for ten years and have never seen a bigger piece of weapons training garbage. In ranks right along with the comic book x-ray specs and cardboard submarine I bought back in 1966 when I was a gullible 10 year old kid.

great video. thanks for your honest input. been looking at the strikeman (among others) for quite a while now and was seriously thinking of getting it. your review mentioned some things that i hadn’t heard elsewhere (mainly due to the fact that the new "pro" version is not yet fully released and there’s not much info on it). would be curious to know which direction you are planning to head for a strikeman replacement.
