Just awesome. Great advice, we’ve all broken these rules . Always good to refresh this every time i go to shoot. Also i make a mental evaluation of myself. And i also meditate on why i arm myself. For family and self protection.
The will to not see anyone innocent hurt (Protection of others). And if it arises to stand against a tanterical invasional government.
Alec Baldwin should have watched this video. Better yet should have gone through Warrior Poet Society gun safety
Hi John, Thank you for this awesome video. I used it in my own training as a NRA Certified Pistol Inst. I’m working on safety posters for our range. I would like to put a poster of your universal safety rules up, along with a url and QR code so people can be directed to your YouTube video and watch it right at the range, if not before arriving. We are flooded with newcomers. Safety at all ranges are far more sketchy now than every before. Your video could really help. Could we get your permission refer our shooters to this excellent video?
I’m heading to a gun range for the first time ever. I was sent this to review. I’m thankful for this resource.
I was on a job site and everyone was using trigger and muzzle discipline with drills and pneumatic nailers. I loved it!
I can’t imagine why this might have come up in my recommended videos today……………..
Trump WON!!!
I can’t watch this enough times thank you
Your video was great. you seem like a military person. I discharged my 9mm yesterday at the range. it was awesome.
I will be using this video to teach the cast of my short films! Even though we will be using Imitation Firearms, the rules must always be followed! Thank you mate!
With great power comes great responsibility. This video has probably saved dozens if not hundreds of lives. I’m a first time rifle owner but these principles apply to all fire arms and I’m looking to get a handgun and the fact your videos are filled with such enthusiasm and genuine empathy is so fucking awesome. God bless you man you’re doing the right thing in life.
👍
I will burn this into my brain…thank you
Fantastic video. Same rules I learned in the British army.
Rule #4 does not apply to cops.
First thing my uncle taught me " a gun is always loaded, even when it’s not. The only time you point a gun at something is when you are prepared to kill it. "
Great video. I appreciate the intensity.
Rule number 4 is for civilians.. not military
I taught these rules to my kids with an easy to remember reminder… "Always / Never / Never / Always". When I ask them to recite the four safety rules, they immediately rattle off, "Always / Never / Never / Always" then elaborate on the rules from that cue.
Here to share with someone. Thanks John for your great content.
I need to learn about gun safety! This Is My First Video And I Am Suscribing!
How do you not flag yourself when carrying appendix? You flag the dong every time you reholster.
I just learned not to kill somone or blow my hand off
The biggest problem is getting complacent.
Great video!
Maybe I missed something but why look away after you clear it?
Please start a channel on Odysee and boycott youtube. I don’t want to support these people.
It just felt like I attended a really cool class about guns which I always wished to do. Sir your way is awesome.
12 year old son is going to watch this video, and pass a written test, before he picks up a BB gun to start training.
Where is that guys with the comment summarizing the video? I guess I’ll be the one:
0. Store the gun in the proper holster only.
1. Always treat all guns as if they are loaded. Know the condition of your gun. Clear the gun redundantly, confirming visually and physically.
2. Keep your finger off of the trigger and on the slide.
3. Never point a firearm at anything you don’t intend to destroy.
4. Know your target including everything beyond and before the target. You are responsible for every round until it stops moving.
I’m sure those horses are also grateful of your discpline.
Absolutely great video and we need more "intense" instructors like him to teach the balance of responsibility and accountability of safe firearm ownership and operation. Refreshed of much in 10 min of the common sense basics.
8:20 don’t apologize. The worst possible thing that can happen (usually) in any situation is that someone innocent is killed. We’re talking about rules that could result in death or great bodily harm if they aren’t followed, I don’t think you can be too intense or put enough emphasis on the importance of those rules.
Rule #1 does not apply to Alec Baldwin.
Sr. Your hype is greatly appreciated and necessary…thank you for the info
The only thing cooler than firearms is firearm discipline.
Full blown flaming liberal here. I love your content buddy. Love the positive energy, love of firearms and all the positive energy you bring to enlightening us. Thank you.
Here because Alec Baldwin’s accident reminded me of the importance of the 4 rules
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED YOU LEFTIST PUSSIES!!!
I know you explained this but.
5: After finishing empty mag and clear the gun, put gun in a safe case and don’t have ammo in the gun until use.
Great Video
I’m glad he knows these rules as well as the does !! Becuase there’s multiple horses walking around on what looks like a target range where he has weapons and ammo laying around 😑 no horses were harmed in the making of this video !
One of the leading times a negligent discharge happens is when dry firing commences. Of course several of the four safety rules were not followed. Clear your weapon while being mindful of what you’re pointing at and beyond. Remove all ammo and magazines loaded or not, out of the room. Double check your chamber and magwell are clear. Load training dummy round into the chamber. Point at an area know there is nothing you want to destroy including pets, any part of your body or material things you don’t want to destroy. If you know your above someone in a room don’t point down. Someone could also be in a basement. Wear eye protection even dry firing. You could point possibly inside stand up safe at a ballistic plate. Or a bullet stop you purchased. Even if you are dry firing keep your finger off your trigger to keep your muscle memory.
This was very informing!!
What airsoft gun is that? at 8:52 it looks like you have one with an extractor! 😀
Awesome video sir
There is a fifth rule: NO ONE TOUCHES A FIREARM WHEN THE RANGE IS COLD. No exceptions, regardless of whether or not someone actually is downrange changing a target, etc. Until the range officer or someone else announces “range is hot” NO ONE touches a gun. Period.
I was alone at an unsupervised outdoor range when 3 guys showed up. We all said hello. When I needed to and had waited for a pause in their shooting, I asked for the range to go cold so I could change my target. They had a bunch of guns spread out in a table. As I turned around to go back to the line, they were all handling a gun doing show and tell or something. I asked them not to touch a firearm when the range was “cold” and they told me to f-off. I’m not sure I’ve ever been as scared and angry at the same time. I packed up as quickly as I could and left.
Our family is getting ready to learn how to use firearms and make some of our first purchases. I love your passion and clear explanations with good examples! Thanks buddy!
I would also say keep the gun horizontal, in the video there were several occasions when the gun was pointing up. Also , no mention of ‘flagging’, not always easy on handguns, but an open slide with a flag stuffed up the barrel would remove all doubt.
I love him apologizing for the intensity. You don’t need to do that. Firearm safety is a giant fucking deal, you don’t want to kill anyone. This intensity is warranted.
