Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II AR-15 Review: Great Budget Rifle Or Piece Of Junk? (HD)

Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II AR-15 Review: Great Budget Rifle Or Piece Of Junk? (HD)

I’ve put right around 1,500 rounds through the Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II over the past few months. In the video I show the accuracy of the rifle, the details of the material specs, and what I think of it overall.

I’ve just bought this and have fired 200 rds out of this and this rifle is insane for its price 90% sub MOA and rds going through the same hole 90% of the time!!! Can’t recommend this rifle enough…insane!!!

Great review. I really like a simple AR-15, and I seem to shoot well with iron sights. Does it come with a sling?

  3. John B. on February 10, 2022 at 10:32 pm

I’m used to a Mini-14 with tactical stock and if I ever did get an AR rifle it would probably be this one as a rifle to try out the format. Looks good and the best part "It’s shockingly accurate".

  4. Smile Life on February 10, 2022 at 10:33 pm

A rifle is a rifle no matter what is long as you take care of it and it’s not to cheaply made.

  5. R O C on February 10, 2022 at 10:34 pm

I bought my Sport II in 2017 for $500 shipped. Have put close to 5,000 rounds in it now. Never had a single issue. No failure to eject, light primer strike, jam. Nothing. Been 100% reliable for me and I love it. Highly recommend.

  6. Samuel Morado on February 10, 2022 at 10:35 pm

Funny how ARs are considered dangerous but not a SCAR 308. Go figure

  7. Mel Brewton on February 10, 2022 at 10:37 pm

How does your ride handle 556 ammo? It appeared you test were performed with 223.

  8. Tiger Gray on February 10, 2022 at 10:37 pm

In California it cost $1099 plus $45 dros plus the tax 😢

  9. Vice Richter on February 10, 2022 at 10:41 pm

how many rounds does the bolt and barrel last? just wondering

  10. JJ Outback on February 10, 2022 at 10:41 pm

Glad you could admit your initial bias was wrong. Gives your reviews more credibility.

Wished I’d picked up one back when they were priced around $500.00. Hindsight’s 20/20.

  11. Captain Mad-Dog on February 10, 2022 at 10:42 pm

Picking mine up on Friday! Can’t wait! Glad I came across this video! Great work sir!

  12. Brian Powers on February 10, 2022 at 10:45 pm

It’s a great first AR for my boys.

Made in MA, which ironically, is not currently a ‘free’ state.

  14. Karma on February 10, 2022 at 10:46 pm

It’s like the Glock of the AR-15 world.

  15. Josephus S on February 10, 2022 at 10:46 pm

Yup, definitely getting one after watching this video. I’ve been searching for my first AR forever and I think I’ve found it. Thanks for the video man!

  16. Daniel on February 10, 2022 at 10:48 pm

Great rifle. Better than most high end. Cant go wrong.

  17. Kilt Man on February 10, 2022 at 10:49 pm

Would you get this or the ruger ar-556?

  18. David Shaffer on February 10, 2022 at 10:49 pm

    It’s a budget AR 15 for christsakes

  20. Frank Napolitano on February 10, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Funny to note that Walmart Banned all ammo except .22lr and hunting rounds. That means the .308 is still on Walmart shelves. Looks like that Walmart’s arrogant Yuppie Executive Staff knows nothing about AR-10’s.

  21. 412Hustlin on February 10, 2022 at 10:52 pm

    Dope your scope??

  22. Jt cool on February 10, 2022 at 10:52 pm

    It’s now $750 a pop

  23. C K on February 10, 2022 at 10:53 pm

Cheaper than Dirt was selling this recently for as much as $1700!!!!

  24. Eduardo Salgado on February 10, 2022 at 10:54 pm

I changed the hand guard to a quad rail, added a for grip, and red dot, I love my SWMP 15

  25. discofishing on February 10, 2022 at 10:55 pm

I am thinking the 4140 is cheaper but also easier to machine, making it more accurate like stainless steal. The Armornite QPQ process probably allows for good wear resistance too. Other youtube gun celebrities have commented on how shockingly accurate this rifle is.

so 5.56 good for hunting? people are so split on that. just want a feel for what people think. also what was the silencer on it you had?

  30. Dan Schneider on February 10, 2022 at 11:03 pm

I am a handgun guy who likes old sporting rifles, but I felt I needed an AR. This rifle suits me well. I don’t have it completely pimped out just a good red dot. Put a couple mags through it every couple months. Zero issues. If I were to be serious about shooting this platform, yeah I could see upgrading. But for me who has this as his equivalent of a minutemans musket…does the job.

  31. James C on February 10, 2022 at 11:03 pm

    Great video as usual

  32. Peter Carmeci on February 10, 2022 at 11:04 pm

I have an M&P15 Sport. I love it. I am giving it to my daughter when she turns 18.

  33. Austin Kallock on February 10, 2022 at 11:05 pm

you could buy this for $500 4 years ago??? i paid $750 for mine new

  34. Tony Brunner on February 10, 2022 at 11:05 pm

I think someone swapped out that upper. You got ripped off. That’s not a stock upper. S&W 15 have a square. Not an A

  35. David Beirne on February 10, 2022 at 11:06 pm

Wanna add that I was shooting 55gr BTFMJ

  36. Chris Wolf on February 10, 2022 at 11:06 pm

  37. Tim Shelley on February 10, 2022 at 11:06 pm

I’m just now seeing this in 2022. My buddy just got one of these and paid $800. Amazing how guns and ammo went up in just a few years. Lol

  43. Robert Page on February 10, 2022 at 11:25 pm

    223 or 556

  44. MM Patriot on February 10, 2022 at 11:26 pm

Great review. This review convinced me to buy the M&P 15 a year or two ago as my first AR, and it’s been a great rifle. I replaced the hand guard with a slimmer aluminum one and that lightened it up nicely.
Since then, somehow, I’ve added two more ARs and a couple of other “interesting” firearms. 🤷‍♂️

  45. sig sauer on February 10, 2022 at 11:26 pm

S&W okk Ruger AR 556 il top

  46. TexasSportsman on February 10, 2022 at 11:28 pm

I hate those titles. Good enough or junk. C’mon Gun/Gear you’re better than that.

I have an AR built with a PSA complete classic lower, MidwayUSA AR Stoner complete M4 upper no front sight and Vortex 1-8×24. Out the door $674.

Shoots as well or better than most moderately priced ARs.

  47. SOLOMON DAVID on February 10, 2022 at 11:28 pm

What is the best Ammo for this rifle?
