2021 Benelli M2 and Nova SPEED – Race Ready IPSC Practical Shotgun

A number of leaked images and a quickly taken down page on the Benelli website have confirmed the new M2 and Nova SPEED variant. All signs point to a fully race ready practical shotgun for IPSC standard and manual division.

Got the M2 & it´s an awesome semiauto shotgun…BUT, whether the intended use is hunting or competition…too much mods needs to be done…that should have been taken care of at the factory. The most crucial is the fork like lifter of the M2….I´ve installed the flat end TTI lifter & no more cursing & no more sore Benelli thumb.
When the M2 SP came out…i couldn´t understand why they kinda did it halfway… still the forklifter & a nothing of effect done to the port. Happy to see Benelli finally starting to give the competetive customers what they want.
Now i´d like to see Beretta come out with the 1301 Comp Pro "v.2.0" with a milled out loading port…like what´s done with the new Speed models

It’s pretty clear these companies are dribbling out the obvious upgrades at a glacial pace so people have a reason to run out and buy the next gen gun. I mean look at the lifter on the new Nova it is STILL not solid. Oh and I think the cut out looks similar to the B12i, probably coming out of the same factory.

Also quick question, is collecting a good reason for having an FAC.
If yes, how would slots work if i plan on owning a quite large collection (around 15 to 20)

Or would it be easier to just buy the deactivated versions?

Looking forward to meet the Benelli.

M2 Speed – 1900 EUR, Nova Speed 1350 EUR in Finland. Nova is starting from 850 EUR. Not too bad for Benelli.

What do you think? Are the new SPEEDs heading straight to the top of the practical shotgun pile?

  7. Andrew Alexander on November 30, 2021 at 9:09 pm

Looks good but sod this I’m not selling my shotguns again to get these ones. I took Connors advice that the new 1301 comp pro was better than the M2 SP so I sold it then got the pro. Not going to sell my supernova to get this new one it all takes time then you have to send your certificate back for a variation which takes even longer. I will probably take my supernova to Conners so he can tweak it. One thing I will say I think the Beneli shotguns are not as comfortable to shoot as the Beretta shotguns

Anyone hear anything about the speed releasing in the US? Is it a LOT better to shoot than a 1301 comp…or just a marginal difference? I like Beretta and benelli…gas and inertia soooo….not too picky.

Have often considered getting into practical but clubs/appropriate grounds are very few & far between. When this current lockdown ends it will be great to get out again and bust some Devon clays.

What will be the length of the barrel on m2 speed to match the standard magazine length? Or there will be few types of barrels and different magazine lengths with different round quantity matching the barrel length?

I am curious when they will be released to the United States. I do see the Benelli Italy website has the specs now. I was looking at picking up the 24" barrel SuperNova but may wait for the Nova Speed. I definitely like the changes.

Any options for optics rails on any of these?

Thanks a looot. I’m going to start with IPSC Practical Shotgun Manual (pump action). I already do IPSC pistol and mini-rifle (cal .22). I don’t know what shotgun should buy (or avoid). My shooting club has areas about 25 meters long. Targets will be from 2 meters to a maximum of 15 meters. There is a proyect to construct new areas about 50 m but I don’t know if shotguns will be allowed in the new areas. As I can see most people use Benelli Nova – supernova. There are 2 Benelli models Nova Tactical and Nova Slug that comes in 50 cm (20 inches) barrels (I’m writing from Spain). I don’t know if those models can be competitive, having in mind the shooting areas (25 meters x 45 metros) and targets distance. Seems that those Tactical models don’t allow chokes. Sure I’m wrong but 61 cm (24 inches) seems too long (Again having in mind the kind of stages that can be set in the shooting range I go). Or may be just it’s a question of practice / training. I’m abosolute lost and, please, I need a little "enlightment". Thanks a lot.

There’s one on Guntrader for £1650 (preorder). These look good. I’m very tempted!

Well, there’s a market for the Nova in Canada because of the 5-round limit on semis. The usual thing was to use box mag fed shotguns, but most of the common types were banned last year as variants of the AR-15, etc. And as far as 3.5" chambers go, that’s commonly used in Canada because it gives you one more round in a semi.

I really like the look of the new 2021 M2. Let’s see how many dogecoins I’ll need to sell 😉

  20. cv dubya on November 30, 2021 at 9:40 pm

I just want to be able to buy that new shortened forend for my Supernova Tactical. Then I’ll get the Magload kit to go along with it. I doubt Benelli will sell that new forend as a standalone part though 😌

  21. John Doe on November 30, 2021 at 9:48 pm

    The 12ga Novas have a 3.5" chamber

  22. Colin on November 30, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Nice mods on both those guns, I’ll stick with my stoeger m3 k that I can’t collect 🤨 as I’m not a pro only doing practical 6 times a year at my club, I think this’ll be enough for me. But from a pro point of view they seem a fantastic buy.

  23. PRB on November 30, 2021 at 9:57 pm

Not everyone is or wants to be a Level 3+ competition shooter. Most "out of the box" practical ready gun is fine for club shoots. We’re not all Jerry Miculek, or aspire to be 😄
